Brock Zearfoss just short of Nationals A-Main start; Michigan and Indiana on deck
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
JONESTOWN, Pa. (August 13, 2019) - The 2019 edition of the Knoxville Nationals in Knoxville, Iowa, was complete with ups and downs for the ‘Jonestown Jet’ Brock Zearfoss, and although the full-time All Star and two-time Series winner in 2019 missed the overall goal of qualifying for Knoxville Nationals A-Main competition, the familiar No. 70 team showed immense speed during the four-day blockbuster, eventually ending the week with a seventh place finish during Saturday’s B-Main.
Tough to swallow, of course, Zearfoss was in a prime position to potentially lock himself into Saturday’s $150,000-to-win finale during his respective preliminary appearance on Thursday. After leading eight of the first nine laps during preliminary feature action, ignition problems set in, forcing Zearfoss to go pit-side to resolve the issue; Zearfoss was forced to settle for 19th.
“We were close. It sucks that had to happen to us, but unfortunately, that’s the way things go sometimes. We’ve been fortunate in a lot of ways this year. That night just wasn’t our night. The 19th place finish was the difference between a Saturday night A-Main start and a Saturday night B-Main start,” Zearfoss said, driver of the Moose’s LZ Bar & Grill, Heavy Equipment, Loaders & Parts Inc./BAPS Auto Paint & Supply/Meckley's Limestone Products/Berkebile Oil Company/River City Wood Products/No. 70 sprint car. “Regardless, I’m proud of this team and I’m proud of what we were able to accomplish. We have another busy weekend ahead. All we can do is keep plugging away.”
Brock Zearfoss will continue his 2019 All Star Circuit of Champions campaign with a doubleheader weekend in Michigan and Indiana, first setting aim on I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan, on Friday, August 16, followed by a stop at Plymouth Speedway in Plymouth, Indiana, on Saturday, August 17. Zearfoss will enter the weekend with two All Star victories on the season, each of which taking shape in the Empire State.
