Brock Zearfoss with mixed feelings after Sprint Car World Championship campaign

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

JONESTOWN, Pa. (April 30, 2018) – Brock Zearfoss’ Sprint Car World Championship campaign was complete with success, as well as heartache, nearly qualifying for the 50-lap, $100,000-to-win finale, ultimately ending the weekend with a fourth place finish during the last chance feature on Saturday, April 28.

After winning his Sprint Car World Championship preliminary heat race on Friday, April 27, the “Jonestown Jet” was well on his way to a top-four finish during preliminary feature competition when disaster struck, forcing the Brock Zearfoss Racing/ Moose’s LZ Bar & Grill/Meckley’s Limestone/Central Builders Supply Co./Berkebile Oil Company/BAPS Auto Paint & Supply/No. 3Z entry to retire early. Zearfoss, who was battling for third during his respective preliminary feature when engine trouble occurred, needed to finish inside the top-four to secure a Sprint Car World Championship feature start.

Zearfoss had a second chance to qualify for the Sprint Car World Championship on Saturday, but contact with the outside retaining wall during his last chance heat race forced the Jonestown, Pa., native to resort to one of the four contested B-mains. A fourth place finish during B-main competition was enough to lock Zearfoss into the last chance feature, soon charging ahead from seventh to finish fourth.

“We were close, twice,” Zearfoss explained, a two-time main event winner in Central Pennsylvania thus far in 2018. “To be that close and not make the show is frustrating, but you have to shake it off and move forward. We were able to rebound and earn a top-five to end the weekend. Hats off to the track crew and all of the officials for getting the show in. I know weather was an issue most of the weekend, so I thank them for their efforts. I can’t thank my family, crew and supporters enough for their help and hard work this weekend. It was fun to race against some of the best in the country. We are looking forward to the opportunity to do it again soon.”

Up next, Brock Zearfoss will return to Central Pennsylvania competition, ready to enter four events in three days beginning with two programs on Friday, May 4, at Williams Grove Speedway. The “Jonestown Jet” will enter the 410c.i. portion of the evening program, as well as the ASCS/URC portion.

The defending Port Royal Speedway track champion will continue the weekend with action at the Port Royal Speedway “Speed Palace” on Saturday, May 5, followed by a visit to BAPS Motor Speedway near York Haven on Sunday, May 6.
