JONESTOWN, Pa. (April 16, 2018) - Coming up just short of attaining a first-ever Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 victory, the “Jonestown Jet” Brock Zearfoss led 23 laps against the traveling All Stars at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night, eventually surrendering the top spot to National Sprint Car Hall of Famer, Lance Dewease.
For Zearfoss, the runner-up performance during the annual Tommy Hinnershitz Memorial capped off a near-perfect evening at the world-famous half-mile, qualifying for the 30-lap, $5,000-to-win main event by finishing second during heat race competition, right before winning the first of two All Star dashes from the back row.
“We were close on Friday, just not close enough,” Zearfoss said, who drives the Brock Zearfoss Racing/Moose's LZ Bar & Grill/Meckley’s Limestone/Central Builders Supply Co./Berkebile Oil Company/BAPS Auto Paint & Supply/No. 3Z sprint car. “I didn’t know Lance [Dewease] was anywhere close to me. The track was getting higher and higher, so I was able to peek down the race track and see if anyone was trying to duck underneath us. He deserved the win. Hopefully I can return the favor and get an All Star win the next time they come to Central Pennsylvania.”
Following his runner-up finish at Williams Grove Speedway, Zearfoss followed the All Stars north to Port Royal Speedway for the Third Annual Keith Kauffman Classic. Despite being involved in an on-track incident during heat race action, Zearfoss was able to pull down a back-up car and start at the tail of the field. Utilizing a Port Royal Speedway track provisional, the 2017 Port Royal Speedway track champion rebounded big, advancing forward from 26th on the grid to finish 15th, also claiming the All Star hard charger contingency for advancing the most positions.
Up next on the schedule, the “Jonestown Jet” will enter a trio of events in Central Pennsylvania, this time visiting Williams Grove Speedway, Port Royal Speedway, and Selinsgrove Speedway on Friday through Sunday, April 20-22, respectively. Zearfoss will enter the weekend with five top-ten finishes to his credit thus far in 2018, two of which occurring inside the top-five.
